OUR CHURCH COVENANT

Having been led, as we believe by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior (Rom. 8:14), and on the profession of our faith (Rom. 10:9-10), having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit (Matt. 28:19), we do now, in the presence of God, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into this covenant with one another as one body in Christ (1 Cor. 10:17, 2 Kings 23:2-3, Neh. 9:38).

We will, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit,

  • walk together in Christian love (Eph. 5:2, John 13:34-35);

  • strive for this church’s growth in knowledge (2. Pet. 3:18), holiness (Heb. 12:14), and encouragement (1 Thess. 5:11);

  • promote the church’s spirituality (Col. 1:28) and material wellbeing (Ps. 1:3, 1 Cor. 12:4-7);

  • sustain its worship (Heb. 10:24-25), ordinances (Matt. 28:19, Luke 22:19-20), discipline (1 Tim. 4:7), and doctrines (2 Tim. 2:2);

  • contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations (2 Cor. 9:7).

We will…

  • study God’s Word personally (Ps. 1:1-2) and as a family (Ps. 145:4),

  • educate our children in the Christian faith (Eph. 6:4);

  • seek the salvation of our relatives and acquaintances (1 Pet. 3:1-2; Rom. 10:14-17);

  • walk with careful wisdom in the world (Eph. 5:15, Col. 4:5-6);

  • be just in our dealings (Prov. 11:1, Micah 6:8), faithful in our commitments  (Pr. 12:22), and exemplary in our behavior (1 Tim. 4:12);

  • avoid all gossip (Eph. 4:29), backbiting (James 4:11), and unrighteous anger (James 1:19-20);

  • abstain from the abuse of drugs, food, drink, and practices which bring unwarranted harm to the body or jeopardize our own or another’s faith (Eph. 5:18, Rom. 14:21) and maintain lives of sexual purity and marital fidelity (1 Cor. 6:18, Heb. 13:4, 1 Cor. 6:9-11);

  • be zealous in our efforts to advance the kaingdom of our Savior (Rom. 12:11).

We will…

  • watch over one another in brotherly love (Gal. 6:1-2);

  • remember one another in prayer (James 5:16);

  • aid one another in sickness and distress (1 Cor. 12:26);

  • cultivate Christian courtesy in speech (Col. 4:6);

  • be slow to take offense (James 1:19-20), but always ready for reconciliation and mindful of the rules of our Savior to secure it without delay (Matt. 5:21-24).

We finally commit…

  • that if we leave this church we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word (Heb. 10:24-25

OUR BELIEFS
Our church, alongside other churches of the Southern Baptist Convention, affirms the Baptist Faith and Message

“Baptists cherish and defend religious liberty, and deny the right of any secular or religious authority to impose a confession of faith upon a church or body of churches. We honor the principles of soul competency and the priesthood of believers, affirming together both our liberty in Christ and our accountability to each other under the Word of God.
